He's been called "The Next Jeezy." He's a street rapper who makes hood anthems with the potential to reach the masses, like Young Jeezy, Rick Ross and Plies before him. That's right, Yo Gotti is one of the hottest rappers in the streets, with some of the highest quality music. His street albums make serious noise without a major push, he stays on the road performing paid shows and he's gotten more than 24 million plays on his Myspace page.

All of this momentum sets the stage for what will surely be the album that takes Yo Gotti from street sensation to national star, the impeccable Live From The Kitchen. Boasting production from Cool & Dre (Lil Wayne, The Game), Shawty Redd (Young Jeezy, Snoop Dogg), DJ Toomp (T.I., Kanye West) and others, Yo Gotti's latest concoction boasts his trademark street tales delivered with beats hard enough to sustain his street roots yet catchy enough to catch the ear of the average rap fan.

With his imposing physique, larger than life personality, and outrageous videos, it could be easy to lose something important in Colt Ford's ample shadow: the music. But make no mistake, Colt Ford is a musician. A natural drummer, he is as comfortable laying down a beat as he is in front of the mic, singing and talking honestly about the country life he and his devoted audiences have in common.

And while some may consider the Academy of Country Music Award nominee's style of rhythmic sing-speak to be rural rap, what Colt does has been a part of country music for ages. It's in Hank Williams Sr.'s "Kaw-Liga," and in his recitations recorded as Luke the Drifter. It's in the story songs of Johnny Cash. The double talking jive of Jerry Reed. The wild wordplay of Charlie Daniels. And in Jason Aldean's swerving hit single "Dirt Road Anthem"—a song co-written and originally recorded by Colt.

Reckless Kelly at The Cotillion

Time: 8:00 pm - 11:00 pm
Date:
Location: The Cotillion
Price: $15

Reckless Kelly 8pm Saturday, June 9. Doors open at 7pm. Tickets on sale 3/23 for $15. Day of Show $18. Tickets available at The Cotillion, 316-722-4201, thecotillion.com and the employee clubs. No service fees for tickets purchased at The Cotillion open 8a-6p Mon- Sat.

Led by brothers Willy (vocals/guitar) and Cody Braun (vocals/fiddle/mandolin/harmonica), alternative country-rock outfit Reckless Kelly formed in Bend, Oregon, before relocating to Austin, Texas, in October, 1996. The Brauns had previously toured with their father in Muzzie Braun & the Boys, a Western swing band, and were joined in their own group by lead guitarist Casey Pollock, bassist Chris Schelske, and drummer Jay Nazz.

The band played locally on historic sixth street in Austin. They turned a small bar & restaurant called Lucy's Retired Surfers Bar, into a noted music venue. From November 1996 through May 1998, they packed the place out with their infamous Monday night show. During this period other music venues in Austin invited them to play, including the Continental club, the Saxon pub, Stubb's barbecue, and Antone's home of the blues.

Reckless Kelly's debut album, Millican, appeared in the fall of 1997, and was officially released in 1998; Acoustic: Live at Stubb's and The Day both followed two years later, after which David Abeyta replaced Pollock on lead guitar. Under the Table and Above the Sun from 2003 began the band's relationship with the high-profile Sugar Hill label and won the hearts of the music press and honky tonkin' legend Joe Ely, who sang the band's praises in interviews. Wicked Twisted Road was released in 2005, and the next year the live album Reckless Kelly Was Here captured the band's stage presence. Bulletproof was released in the summer of 2008 on a new label, Yep Roc Records, and includes tracks critical of and reflecting on recent sociopolitical unfoldings, such as the Iraq War and Hurricane Katrina. In 2010, Reckless released an album of songs by one of their musical heroes, Pinto Bennett. Somewhere in Time, in the band's own words, highlighted their love of "straight-up honky tonk". The band regularly returns to Austin to play before capacity crowds at venues like Nutty Brown Cafe & Amphitheatre.

In 1995, Zoso was formed to create the most mesmerizing and accurate portrayal of "the biggest band of the 1970s" - Led Zeppelin (Rolling Stone). Each member was selected to portray both the appearance and playing styles of Robert Plant, Jimmy Page, John Bonham and John Paul Jones. Zoso almost immediately developed an outstanding regional reputation and were awarded "Best Tribute Act in California" by Rock City News.

In 1999, Zoso began touring nationally, playing a remarkable 2,400 live performances, honing their show to become one of the most musically and visually rewarding acts in North America. Their passion, musical ability, showmanship and precise attention to detail earned them critical acclaim, name recognition and a large loyal following. The Los Angeles Times hailed the group as being "head and shoulders above all other Zeppelin tributes," and the Chicago Sun-Times declared Zoso to be "the closest to the original of any tribute."

Every year since its conception, Zoso continues to play 150 - 180 high profile concerts at performance arts centers, civic centers, theaters, festivals, and universities. Since 2004, the band has been working on numerous shows with Live Nation including a rotation of 9 House of Blues venues. The four permanent members' mastery of authentic vintage instruments coupled with spot-on vocals, guitar, bass, drums, and keyboards, their compelling stage persona and distinct Led Zeppelin sound, with astounding visual imagery recreates the music, magic, and mystery of a Zeppelin concert. Each of the timeless hit songs performed in their sets are known and loved by generations of fans.

Zoso, comprised of Matt Jernigan (Robert Plant), John McDaniel (Jimmy Page), Adam Sandling (John Paul Jones) and Greg Thompson (John Bonham), actively self-promote each engagement. Their Web site, www.zosoontour.com, registers more than 125,000 visits annually and their national email fan base exceeds 15,000 addresses. A publicist supports the group's tours and individual performances.

If you missed Led Zeppelin live in the '70s or are looking for a great chance to relive the "Hammer of the Gods" phenomenon, you must experience what the St. Petersburg Times calls "the most exacting of the Zeppelin tribute bands in existence."

David Sanborn at The Cotillion

Category: Concert ⁄ Live Music
David Sanborn 8pm Sunday, June 24. Doors at 7pm. Reserved Seat Tickets on sale for $30, $35 & $49. Tickets available at The Cotillion, 316-722-4201, thecotillion.com and the employee clubs. No service fees for tickets purchased at The Cotillion open 8a-6p Mon- Sat.

Renowned and revered the world over as one of the greatest saxophone players of all-time, David Sanborn is an artist whose music has inspired countless other musicians while creating a body of work that spans the genres of rock 'n' roll, R&B, pop and jazz. A naturally gifted performer, David has helped defined the saxophone's modern sound while influencing a generation.

Born July 30, 1945 in Tampa, Florida, David William Sanborn contracted polio when he was only 3 years old. As a part of his rehabilitative therapy, David was introduced to the saxophone. It was an introduction with consequences quite beyond the imagination of his parents, doctors – or anyone else. The selection of the alto sax – a favourite from David's days spent listening to the radio – would prove to be a pivotal moment in the development of his sound.

Growing up in St. Louis, Missouri, David was tremendously inspired by the rich legacy of great Chicago blues artists who would play their way through town. Before he was finished high school, David had played with names such as Albert King and Little Milton. "When I was 17 or 18," David has said, "And it was time to figure out what to do with my life, I realized that I didn't enjoy anything as much as I enjoyed playing music. I felt that I had no choice, that I HAD to become a musician. Either that or steal cars."

David studied music for a year at Northwestern University before transferring to the University of Iowa. By 20, he was married and the proud father of a son – Jonathan Sanborn – for whom each of David's records have been dedicated. A phone call from an old friend in San Francisco – drummer Teddy Steward – convinced David to head for California. It was while in San Francisco that another old friend – Phillip Wilson – who had recently joined the Butterfield Blues Band, invited David to Los Angeles to sit-in on recording sessions with the band. "I got on a Greyhound bus from San Francisco to LA, took a bus into Hollywood, slept on the floor of Phillip's hotel room and went to the studio with him." David has said. "Just had my horn. I think it was because I looked so pathetic, standing there with my horn, Paul Butterfield said, "Why don't you just come and play on a tune?" I sat in and I did okay. And I was with Butterfield for almost five years."

Those five years saw David –with the Butterfield Blues Band – play Woodstock, among many other classic gigs. But the demise of that band only brought David new opportunities and within a week he was touring with another legend – Stevie Wonder. David played on Wonder's remarkable "Talking Book" LP, rocked briefly with rock and roll heroes The Rolling Stones then toured with David Bowie, eventually performing his famous solo on Bowie's 1975 recording "Young Americans."

It was also in 1975 that David released his first solo album Taking Off. The record enjoyed respectable sales and while David continued working with other performers such as Paul Simon and James Taylor he also continued flexing his considerable muscles as a solo artist, eventually scoring massive popular hits with 1980's Hideaway and 1981's Grammy winning Voyeur.

FUTURE

Nayvadius Cash (born November 11, 1985), better known by his stage name Future also known as Future ATL is an African-American rapper from Decatur, Georgia. He is currently signed to the record label Epic Records. He is currently in a relationship with a woman named Terrica "Rica", he met while in Chicago vacationing.
He was given the moniker "The Future of Rap" by his local crew, the famous Atlanta hip hop collective, Dungeon Family. His cousin, producer Rico Wade of Dungeon Family, encouraged him to sharpen his writing skills and pursue music. From 2010 to early 2011, Future released a series of mixtapes including 1000, Dirty Sprite and True Story. The latter included the single "Tony Montana", on which he raps under the influence of codeine and promethazine syrup with a fake Cuban accent in an attempt to approximate the voice of the main character from the Scarface film. During this time, Future also partnered with Gucci Mane on the Free Bricks collaborative album and was the featured artist on YC's single "Racks".

Future signed a major label deal with Epic Label Group in September 2011, days before the release of his next mixtape, Streetz Calling. The mixtape was described by XXL magazine as ranging from "simple and soundly executed boasts" to "futuristic drinking and drugging jams" to "tales of the grind." Jordan Sargent of Pitchfork Media remarked that on the mixtape, Future comes "as close as anyone to perfecting this thread of ringtone pop, where singing and rapping are practically the same thing, and conversing 100% through Auto-Tune doesn't mean you still can't talk about how you used to sell drugs. It would almost feel antiquated if Future weren't amassing hits, or if he weren't bringing some subtle new dimensions to the micro-genre."

Though Future had told MTV that Streetz Calling would be his final mixtape prior to the release of his debut studio album, another mixtape, Astronaut Status, was released in January 2012. Before his album being released in April 2012. XXL's Troy Mathews wrote, "While Astronaut Status is up and down and never really hits the highs like 'Racks', 'Tony Montana', and 'Magic' that fans have come to expect from Future, it's apparent that he's poised to continue the buzz of 2011 humming right along into 2012."

Future was selected to the annual XXL Freshmen list in early 2012. His debut album Pluto, originally planned for January, was eventually released on April 17. It will include remixes of "Tony Montana" featuring Drake and "Magic" featuring T.I.. According to Future, "'Magic' was the first record T.I. jumped on when he came outta jail. Like, he was out of jail a day and he jumped straight on the 'Magic' record without me even knowing about it." The track became Future's first single to enter the Billboard Hot 100 chart. Other collaborators on the album include R Kelly, Snoop Dogg and Trae Tha Truth.

PUSHA T
