The Wichita Art Museum is located in the heart of the Museums on the River District just five minutes from downtown Wichita.
As the largest art museum in Kansas, the Wichita Art Museum is home to a nationally renowned collection of American Art.
A $10.5 million expansion project was completed in June 2003 adding 34,000-square-feet to the building.
The expansion also added 40% more gallery space, a 6,500-square-foot S. Jim and Darla Farha Great Hall featuring an elegant work of art by internationally-renowned artist, Dale Chihuly, and a new restaurant with a scenic river view.The Muse Cafe

Chronicles: The Art of Norman Rockwell - Through May 30
Norman Rockwell painted the best of America. The exhibition American Chronicles showcases the indelible images of the lives, hopes and dreams of Americans in the 20th century. Rockwell’s unique artistic legacy, established during 65 years of painting, offers a personal chronicle of 20th century life and aspirations that has both reflected and profoundly influenced American perceptions and ideals. This exhibition is made possible with the generous support from the Fidelity Foundation; The National Endowment for the Arts, American Masterpieces Program; the Henry Luce Foundation; Curtis Publishing Company; Norman Rockwell Estate Licensing Company; and the Stockman Family Foundation. Mingled Visions: Selections from Edward S. Curtis’s The North American Indian - Through June 27
Edward S. Curtis is one of the most prominent photographers of the early 20th century, best known for his efforts to photograph and preserve Native American Indian culture. An accomplished commercial portrait photographer, his work with more than 80 tribes in the American West is both a record of the past and a work of art. The forty photographs that comprise this exhibition showcase his life long dedication to the medium and to recording the Native American way of life. The Wichita venue is made possible in part by the S. M. & Laura H. Brown Charitable Trust and the Friends of the Wichita Art Museum, Endowment.
Causes, Calls, Certainties - Through July 11
From rallying the troops to the inevitable and darker certainties of wartime, this exhibition explores the different sides of war, with a special emphasis on the World War II era. These objects are from the museum’s permanent collection.
Western Imprints: Carving Out the Western Landscape
Reduction Woodblocks by Leon Loughridge - Through September 19
Colorful impressions of the western landscape are captured in the woodblock prints of Colorado based artist Leon Loughridge. He works to bring the spontaneous sprit of outdoor landscape painting to prints. His images feature landscapes from the valleys of New Mexico to the Flint Hills.
William Blake’s Illustrations from the Book of Job - Through August 29
Influential luminary of English Romanticism William Blake, is well known as a poet, painter, and engraver from the 19th century. This set of twenty-one engravings illustrates the biblical story of Job and is regarded as Blake’s finest work in the medium.
